Kitsune earpad replacement
This page will guide you through the earpad replacement process on your Kitsune
Keep in mind that if you don't prefer this, you can buy earpads with the magnet rings pre-attached for just an easy swap.
Choose the correct new earpads

This is a very important step. Your new earpads must have a tape ring (usually, these are earpads that fit the Audeze LCD-2, LC-3 and LCD-4) and not outer flaps. Earpads must also stay 110mm diameter. Please note that some compatible earpads (like ones from Dekoni) can mention up to 118mm - you can ignore this as long as the earpads fit an Audeze LCD-2, LCD-3 or an LCD-4.
We recommend using Dekoni or Carberon earpads made for the LCD series.
Remove the old earpads

This step is very easy. Just use a small amount of force to pull the earpads from the cups. Please keep in mind to not poke anything into the exposed driver as this can render the driver unusable if the trace is broken or the membrane gets ripped and this is considered user damage.
Untape the earpads from the magnet rings

In this step, you might be required to use more force. You need to untape the earpads from the magnet rings. We recommend doing this by pulling with your fingers from one side and the tape should let the earpad free. While doing this, stay careful and go slowly to not break the magnet ring. If you do break a magnet ring, you can order a new one from the Replacement Parts page.
If any residue or unwanted things stay on the rings from the tape, please remove them/clean the magnet ring before taping on new earpads.
Attach the magnet rings back to the headphones

This step is optional, although recommended to ensure proper rotation of earpads and the safety of the magnet array on the rings. Put the magnet ring back on the cups - make sure the ring is perfectly fit with no air gaps.
Tape on the new earpads

Now you can tape on the new earpads. Before taping on, please check that the tape is alligned with the ring/headphone cup and is not extruding anywhere. If you're sure the tape is alligned, you can press on the earpads to make sure they stay taped on. While pressing, try not to cover the ear opening as you could create high pressure and damage the drivers.
If your earpads are angled, make sure the thinner side is facing the front of the headphone.
If you've done everything successfully, you can now enjoy your Kitsune with its new earpads.
